This community garden is in its first year, but is bearing abundant tomatoes, peppers, green beans, red beets, okra, kohlrabi, basil, greens, melons, and of course, radishes.  The garden soil was specially prepared by volunteers who tilled and amended the soil to be ready for gardening.  Water is donated by the City of Lima.

The Calumet Ave community garden is part of the overall community garden project coordinated by Lima Allen County Community Neighborhoods in Partnership (LACNIP) and the City of Lima.  Special coordinators are Connie Miller, Steve Maki, Jennifer Pugsley, Connie Dershem, Rick and Joan Kabara, Mark Light, Karel Oxley, Gretchen Staley, and many more community-minded people.

Other community gardens are at the corner of West Spring and South Collett, at Emerson school, at Northpark church, at Liberty school, and at Martin Luther King center.
